LED fusion research center in Kook Min Univ. (chief of the center Young Min, Jang, of Picture) is the cradle of fusion technology. This is founded with a goal which is developments of LED transmission technology and prototype connected a network system in 2010. Basic, innovate fusion of next generation VLC and LED-ID technology to transmit information about region, product, and location using LED light are a background of creation.

The center is researching mainly to realize PHY/MAC with using LED by obtaining home network/ home appliances field of development of industry fusion in Ministry of knowledge economy. PHY/MAC is a new technology to create new a market and improve value of LED light. They are processing various researches connected MAC layer like an information exchange algorithm, selection channel, multi channel interference avoidance technique based on color and perception MAC under ‘IEEE 802.15.7’ which is international standard of LED light fusion visible light communication.
This is a proof that research competence of the LED fusion research center is getting bigger.

Actually the center realized concept of LED-ID at the first, they are successes to develop a basic device for LED, PD circuit and communication using LED and PD. With this, they created a foundation of technology of MAC, managing interference and LBS.

Prof. Young Min, Jang, chief of the fusion research center and major in electronic engineering, said “I will show there is no limitations and barriers of LED field from high speed multimedia transmission technology based on LED light to development of LEC-ID communication system.” And emphasized “I’m planning to strive the commercialization and realize prototype technology, main technologies we need in internal and external based on a result of preceding research about LED-ID technology.

Professor Jang has carried forward industrialization of academic like introducing regular technology of 4G mobile communication with doing activities as an international regular expert in Telecommunications technology association since 2001. He expected “commercialization of LED light system will be promoted with making various ecosystem which contains many businesses like light, LED, service.
