At the 2012 4thNational University Ceramic Competition, Shin, Ji-yoen’s‘TEA Play’ won a gold award. Also 2 silver awards, 1 bronze award, 2 special jury prizes, 1 Haengnamporcelain award, 3 special selections, and 4 other prizes were conferred. People meet one another, work or drink coffee and teaand enjoy themselves, so ‘TEA Play’received its name. Shin Ji-yeon said “I’m really happy to be awarded only having one semester to graduate.
I have many worries and hard times through majoring in ceramic design, but I want to work hard on my work and thesis with this opportunity. I want to be a person who tries hard to realize my ultimate dreams.” In this competition, 32 universities and 11 graduate schools participated, and 200 artworks were exhibited. All prize-winning works will be exhibited at the Cerapia Chang-jo Center in Icheon from the 27th of August through December. It also makes a splash because HaengnamPorcelain, which is a representative porcelain company in Korea, will choose a pottery that will be awarded as theHaengnamPorcelainwork piece.Kim, Tae-wan (Editor in Chief, Monthly Ceramics) said, “These artworks are special jewels, like executing each one’s studies for years. I expect these jewels to create a sensation in the ceramic world and shine themselves.”
