Strengthening Local Youth’s Job-Seeking Skills Through a Seminar on “How to Write an Experience-Based Job Application”
 
Kookmin University’s (President Jeong Seung Ryul) University Job Plus Center, in collaboration with the Seoul Northern Employment Center, held the ninth special lecture of “Seoul Northern Youth ON,” a customized employment support program for local youth, on the 17th.
 
This special lecture was held for local youth in the training room on the second floor of the Seoul Northern Employment Center. Under the theme “How to Write an Experience-Based Job Application,” the session focused on helping participants learn strategies for writing personal statements—a crucial part of the job search process—and enhancing their ability to apply these skills in real job applications.
 
The session covered topics such as: △ identifying reasons for rejection through analysis of personal statement examples; △ deriving and organizing key experiences, and how to link those experiences to specific questions in the personal statement; △ designing the structure of a personal statement and crafting prompts using AI tools; and △ strategies for responding to frequently asked questions.
 
Practical, hands-on training was also provided to help participating youth analyze their own experiences and write personal statements that highlight their job-related competencies. Through this, participants were supported in connecting their personal experiences to the positions they were applying for and in developing a concrete approach to writing personal statements that would be effective in the hiring process.
 
This program is significant in that the Kookmin University Job Plus Center has expanded its employment support to include not only current students and alumni but also local youth, and is collaborating with regional employment support agencies to assist young people in their job search preparations.
 
The Kookmin University Career Plus Center plans to continue operating programs that reflect the employment preparation stages and needs of young people, based on cooperation with relevant local agencies such as the Seoul Northern Employment Center, and to steadily expand career and employment support services for local youth.
