A team from the College of Fine Arts at Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul) presented a creative performance at the "Manhae Worth Remembering," an art festival to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Dr. Manhae Han Yong Woon , on Saturday, June 29, at Shimwoo Field in Seongbuk-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. "The festival was co-organized by Seongbuk-gu, Seongbuk Cultural Center, and Seonhakwon Foundation to honor the spirit and teachings of Manhae Han Yong Woon, an independence activist, poet, and monk who was a spiritual leader of the nation during the Japanese occupation.
Shimwoojang is the former residence of Manhae Han Yong-woon, one of the 33 national representatives who signed the Declaration of Independence during the March 1 Movement in 1919, and a leader of the March 1 Movement, who lived there from 1933 until his death.

The festival was held in Shimwujang and featured performances by several universities, including Kookmin University College of Arts, Dongdeok Women's University, and Korea National University of Arts.

The theme of the Kookmin University College of Arts' creative performance was "Breath and Texture of Manhae" and students and professors of orchestral, vocal, dance, and theater majors participated to honor Manhae's spirit and teachings by mixing various artistic genres, including string quartets, vocal music, theater and poetry recitations, and dance, to create a performance connected by a single theme.

The performance lasted a total of 25 minutes and was organized into five sections connected by a single theme, rather than five independent performances. The first section began with a string quartet performed by students Kim Yoon Seo(1st violin), Jo Minhyung(2nd violin), Lee Eun Jung(viola), and Jeong Hae Young(cello). Then, Lee Yee Sung(Modern Dance major) performed a solo modern dance with a scroll, and Song Da Mi and Shin Yu Seung(Theater major) recited Han Yong Woon's poem "Ferry and Passerby". Next, Gil Seung Hoon(vocal music major) performed Jang Il Nam's "Bimok," and finally, Song Da Mi and Shin Yu Seung(theater majors) recited Han Yong Woon's "The Story of Ties 2." The performance concluded with the recitation of Han's poem.

The creative performance was led by Prof. Kim Sung Hye, Prof. Kang Kyung Mo, Prof. Lee Eun Jin, and Prof. Ok Sang Hoon of Kookmin University College of Arts. "We will continue to carry out various artistic activities to honor the spirit of Dr. Manhae Han Yong-woon and pass on his teachings to the next generation," said Dr. Ok Sang-hoon, Dean of the College of Arts.

After Kookmin University's performance, the Korea National University of Arts and the Intangible Cultural Heritage Association teamed up to present a variety of Korean performances, including Sanjongju, Fan Dance, Taepyeong Dance, and Namdo Folk Song.

The second part of the festival took place at 7 p.m. at Seongbuk Historical and Cultural Park. It started with a creative song by the creative gugak group 'Davut', followed by a performance by koto player Jeon Jeon-jung-ju, a national intangible cultural asset Jongmyo Ritual Music, and 200,000 YouTuber 'Daegeum Nuna'. In addition, the band 'Vintage Frankie', which sings about history and culture, performed a creative rock performance. The festival concluded with special performances by hip-hop musicians Kwon Seok and GK, and singer-songwriters Han Yi Seo and Lee Dong Hyun (Liel).
