Human and Computer Collaboration: Problem-Solving with AI
Professor B. Joon Kim of Kookmin University's Department of Public Administration proposes ‘Human and Computer Collaboration,’ a new model where AI and humans cooperate, based on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Through this concept, Professor Kim researches convergent solutions centered on technology and people in various fields such as Digital Government, Smart Cities, and public administration innovation.
Finding the Intersection of International Cooperation and Digital Administration
Professor B. joon Kim holds various roles, including Professor in the Department of Public Administration, Professor at the Professional Graduate School of Business IT, Director of the Global Business Group, and Director of the International Development Cooperation Institute. Notably, through collaboration with Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT) in Uzbekistan, he is fostering a Business IT entrepreneurship-linked educational ecosystem and helping local talents contribute to their nation's development by completing master's and doctoral programs at Kookmin University.
The Researcher's Stance and Values in the AI Era
Professor Kim cites the ‘joy of immersion’ as the most crucial competency in research. He emphasizes that one should feel a true sense of achievement in the process of deeply engaging with a given problem and, through this, make a positive impact on society. He also strives to impart to his students an attitude of contemplating the social responsibilities and public values of technology.
Technology is a Tool, People are Central
Professor B. Joon Kim explains that the advancement of AI is not merely a technological change but the starting point of a major transformation across society. In an era where AI is establishing itself as a collaborator rather than just an assistant in public administration, education, and research, he conveys the message that the human-centric use of technology is increasingly important. Kookmin University is actively responding to these changes, continuing education and research where technology and humans grow together.
