The Department of Information and Communication has set up a new K·Push+ application that is equipped with a stabilized system and new functions, solving last year’s connection delay and disorder and also reforming the overall structure.

The new K·Push+ application focuses on establishing more direct and effective communication among campus members by adding a Social Network Service (SNS) function on the original Information Delivering Service.

Some major differences to the K·Push+ application that were unavailable in the original K-Push application are the SNS function, channel service, and the PUSH service. The SNS function provides not only the different majors but it also provides the list of lectures students have to attend. By doing so, it makes it possible for professors and students to effectively communicate without having to exchange phone numbers. The channel service also enables students to easily stay up to date with the school’s news. If a student subscribes to a specific menu on the Kookmin University homepage, they will receive news at a specific time. Finally, the application’s speed and the system instability problems were both resolved. They also provide additional required functions to students, such as “Read all,” “Delete all,” and “Turn off the notification alarms.” Though you can turn off the notification alarms, you are unable to disable them altogether. On this issue, the Department of Information and Communication(DIC) clarified that “We didn’t allow students to refuse notifications altogether since those sent by the PUSH service are the ones that students must know about.”
Besides all these services, the DIC is also planning to start a service that informs students when their grades are shown per students’ request. You can find the K·PUSH+ application on the “Google Play Store” or the “App Store” by searching the keyword “Kookmin University.”

DIC staff say: “We are preparing an event that sends coupons to students using the K·PUSH+ and K·CARD at the start of the new semester. As more students receive notifica- tions via the application, we can save massive amounts of money currently being wasted on the original SMS service.”
He also said, “We hope that K·PUSH+ can be used as an effective means of communication, for both professors and students, since it is a service aimed at maximizing ‘Interactive Communication.’”

According to the survey we independently carried out, most of students’ dissatisfaction has revolved around the constant connection delay and the original service’s disorderly presentation. Students who used the new K·PUSH+ service showed positive responses upon noting the problems’ resolution, complimenting K·PUSH+’s faster speed. Users also said that the channel service has also seen some great improvements. Users said that the function through which they can subscribe to specific menus was especially convenient. They also complimented the “Delete all” and “Read all” functions.

Still, some students say there is still room for improvement, specifically with regard to the PUSH service. Some feel that there are too many unnecessary notifications, even without the block function. They also say certain notifications always connect them to the campus homepage, but that it would be better if all notifications were directly visible in the application.
