Kookmin University is beautiful throughout the year, but passing by a campus while looking at the beautiful flowers in full bloom in spring, one naturally gets excited. No single spot in green Bugak campus surrounded by mountains is to be left out, but what places do the Kookmin people think are most beautiful? About 50 people were selected at random and were requested to come up with the most beautiful places in Kookmin University, which then were numerically ranked based on the number of votes polled. It would be a good idea to share which places they have chosen along with the reasons and to meditate on the memories of those places.

BEST 5. The ‘Minju Square’

The ‘Minju Square’, a perfect lawn for students to huddle around while enjoying the sunshine on a fine spring day, was chosen to be the fifth in the rank. ‘Because cherry blossoms being at their best on a spring day are very beautiful’, ‘because it is good to see the view of friends hanging around’, ‘because it is so beautiful as to feel like having outdoor classes’ are some of the reasons for picking this place. It is recommendable to feel the spring passing, sitting on the grass, if you can spare some minutes during the break time.

BEST 4. The path of the main gate

Huge ginkgo trees are on either side of the straight road. It is still springtime, but when the fall comes, unusual yellow scene is being unfolded before our eyes. Various colors of flowers, to be viewed on the way up the school and buildings are a good match. Like a green campus, beautifulness of the color green seems fresh and the landscaping is also neatly organized. The majority of the opinions were that since the path of the main gate is the first impression of the school, it is tidy and nice to look at.

BEST 3. Between Concert Hall and the College of Arts

As a reporter, personally thinks this is the place where the most beautiful cherry blossoms are alongside the path. A bountiful of cherry blossoms in full bloom on both sides covers all the way from the concert hall to the dormitory passing through the College of Arts. If cherry blossoms with the color of cotton candy are blowing in the wind, it looks as if flurries of snow are blowing. The majority of students selected this place as the most beautiful place because ‘the cherry blossoms are beautiful’. There were a great many students regretting for not having fully enjoyed the path of cherry blossoms-precious since they are beautifully in full bloom, but then quickly rot off-due to cold weather, rain and exam period.

BEST 2. University Statue – ‘Yongduri’

A symbol of the school, Yongduri ranked in the second position, which is the place where some students might have fallen into at least once on birthday or during various events. Water is expected to be streaming out of a fountain sooner or later. Beautiful fountain soars towards the sky spraying the water drops. There comes a pleasant feeling when passing it. Besides the statue of Yongduri and the fountain, landscaping in the vicinity is very lovely and all these can be enjoyed. Among the reasons were ‘because it coordinates with cherry blossoms in full bloom and looks nice’, ‘because the fountain is wonderful’.

BEST 1. The Garden of Sungkok

The garden of Sungkok, starting from the staircase beside Yongduri ranking the second, came out at the top in the rank. Flowers in full glory from the staircase are beautiful in the garden of Sungkok and if you go up there, you can view the whole landscaping of school at a glance. A space with bench and rattan being coiled around is ideal for avoiding hot sunlight on a summer day. This place is frequently occupied by the departments for casual events and is also a good place for students to have some relaxing moment. It is reasonable that there is a great deal of photos of couples. Hopefully, there is no Kookmin person who is not aware of the garden of Sungkok, a place ranking the first and feeling no envy of anybody in the staircase of Namsan.
