Graduate students from our university’s Department of Biomedical Sciences achieved outstanding results at the “2026 Spring International Conference of the Korean Pharmaceutical Association,” held at OSCO in Cheongju last April.

Byeon Seong-woong, a student in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Kookmin University, received the “Outstanding Poster Presentation Award”; Park Chang-min received the “Outstanding Oral Presentation Award”; and Yoo Jeong-hyun received the “Oral Presentation Award.”

At this spring international academic conference, Seong-woong Byun presented research on establishing a design space to ensure consistent quality by evaluating the effects of process variables and excipient composition on the quality characteristics of pitavastatin tablets using QbD-based DoE.

Park Chang-min presented research on optimizing the concentration of cryoprotectants to improve the freeze-drying stability of nanoemulsions that can be used as perfluorocarbon-based artificial oxygen carriers.

Student Yoo Jeong-hyun presented research evaluating the impact of the physicochemical properties of amino acid excipients on tablet formulation characteristics and dissolution behavior, and based on this, proposed the potential for amino acids to be used as excipients in functional medicines.

The research of these three students was recognized for its necessity and excellence in the field of industrial pharmacy, earning them the honor of receiving awards.

Professor Kim Joo-Eun, a faculty advisor in the Department of Applied Chemistry’s Bio-Pharmaceutical Major at Kookmin University, stated, “I am very proud that our students have had their research achievements recognized on the meaningful academic stage of the Korean Pharmaceutical Association’s International Conference.” She added, “We will continue to conduct research that can be meaningfully applied in the pharmaceutical industry and produce results that contribute to drug development and the advancement of industrial pharmacy.”
