Professor Lee Wontae, a Specially Appointed Professor at our university’s National Research Institute and Chair of the Security Subcommittee of the National AI Strategy Committee, has been awarded the Order of Civil Merit (Red Ribbon) in recognition of his contributions to establishing ICT standards and enhancing cybersecurity policies in the AI era.

Professor Lee Wontae was recognized for his contributions to establishing a proactive ICT regulatory framework in preparation for the AI era, strengthening personal data protection, and enhancing the level of private-sector cybersecurity policies. He previously served as the President of the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and has held positions as a Research Professor in the Department of Cybersecurity at Ajou University and a Research Fellow at the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI). He currently leads the Security Subcommittee of the National AI Strategy Committee, leveraging his high level of expertise in information security and AI policy.
