Graduate students from Kookmin University's Department of Biopharmaceutical Chemistry achieved outstanding results at the ‘2025 Fall International Conference of the Korean Pharmaceutical Association’ held at COEX Magok last October.

At the conference, Master's student Woo Ho Sik (25) received the Oral Presentation Award, and Master's student Yoon Joo Hyun (28) received the Travel Award.

Master's student Woo Ho Sik presented research comparing and evaluating conventional wet granulation and solubilization-based wet granulation processes for Valsartan formulation development. His work secured results meeting pharmaceutical equivalence standards and proposed a commercialization process strategy applicable not only to Valsartan but also to other sartan-class drugs.

Master's student Yoon Joo Hyun presented research that efficiently designed and optimized the manufacturing process for amiodarone hydrochloride tablets using a continuous wet granulation process. He proposed a strategy to produce formulations of equivalent quality to the existing batch process using a continuous process.

Both of these studies were recognized for their necessity and excellence in the field of industrial pharmacy, earning them the honor of receiving awards.

Professor Kim Joo Eun, head of the Department of Applied Chemistry, Biopharmaceutical Major at Kookmin University and their advisor, stated, “I am very pleased and deeply honored that my students' outstanding achievements were recognized at such an authoritative venue as the Korean Pharmaceutical Association's International Conference.” She added, “We will continue our research and efforts to contribute to public health through meaningful pharmaceutical and industrial pharmacy research.”
