On Friday, July 24, Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul) signed separate memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with the Korea Motorcycle Sports Federation and Korea Mobility Group Co., Ltd. in Room 106 (Hur Yong-soo Hall) of the Administration Building to promote industry-academia collaboration and the training of specialized professionals.

These agreements were established to link Kookmin University’s educational capabilities in the fields of mobility, design, and the sports industry with the two organizations’ expertise in motorcycle sports and motorsports. The signing ceremony was attended by Kookmin University President Jeong Seung Ryul, Korea Motorcycle Sports Federation Chairman Won Seong-yeok, Korea Mobility Group CEO Seong Jeong-min, and other officials, who discussed the direction of the collaboration.

Under the agreement, Kookmin University and the two organizations plan to join forces to ▲ develop and operate training programs to cultivate professionals in the field of motorcycle sports, and ▲ expand employment, internship, and industry-linked opportunities for program graduates and outstanding talent.

Collaboration tailored to each institution’s characteristics will also be pursued. Kookmin University and the Korea Motorcycle Sports Federation will conduct joint research and academic exchanges to advance the motorcycle sports industry. With Korea Mobility Group, they are expected to jointly operate educational programs in related fields, such as the management of motorsports competitions and events.

The Korea Motorcycle Sports Federation is the sole national motorcycle sports federation representing South Korea, officially authorized by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), working to establish a safe motorcycle culture and advance the globalization of South Korean riders. Korea Mobility Group is a specialized motorsports management company leading the development and popularization of the South Korean motorsports industry. Drawing on extensive on-site experience and operational know-how, it is building a comprehensive platform covering all aspects of motorsports, including event management, circuit operations, the development and operation of educational programs, and driver development.

President Jeong Seung Ryul stated, “Kookmin University has built unparalleled expertise in the field of future mobility by integrating various disciplines such as automotive engineering, software, and design, and it also possesses significant strengths in the sports sector, as evidenced by the recent establishment of the Asian Olympic Graduate School.” He added, “This agreement will serve as an opportunity to connect the university’s educational and research capabilities with the on-site expertise of the Korea Motorcycle Sports Federation and Korea Mobility Group.” He continued, “We will work to expand the base of motorcycle sports and solidify cooperation in education, research, and career placement so that students can gain hands-on experience with the technologies and operational systems of related industries.”

Meanwhile, Kookmin University, celebrating its 80th anniversary, is preparing for a new leap toward the next 100 years under the vision of “A University Setting the Standard for Higher Education” and the slogan “Make the Rule, Break the Rule.” To this end, the university has established “KMU VISION 2035: EDGE,” a mid- to long-term development strategy, and selected eight specialized fields to intensively strengthen the university’s competitiveness.

Focusing on “Mobility”—one of the eight specialized fields—Kookmin University’s Future Automotive Business Unit is continuously expanding industry-academia collaboration with domestic and international automotive companies to enhance expertise in future automobiles and mobility software. Based on this, Kookmin University plans to cultivate talent equipped with practical skills and convergent thinking to lead the future mobility industry.
