Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul) held the “2027 Academic Year Kookmin University Admissions Strategy Briefing” on Saturday, July 4, at 2:00 p.m. in the Academic Conference Hall on the first floor of the Kookmin University Administration Building.

This session was organized for approximately 250 high school seniors and their parents from across the country who are preparing for the 2027 academic year’s early admission process. Kookmin University shared the 2026 academic year’s admissions results and provided guidance on the key details of the 2027 academic year’s early admission process, along with application strategies for each selection type, to alleviate the burden of college preparation for students and parents and offer practical information on college admissions.

The session consisted of on-site lectures and one-on-one consultations with admissions officers. The lecture program included an overview of the 2026 academic year early admission results and guidance on application strategies for the 2027 academic year, as well as a special lecture titled “Hearing from Admissions Officers: Everything About the Comprehensive School Record Evaluation.”

The one-on-one consultations with admissions officers were designed to help students understand the admission processes and develop application strategies tailored to their individual circumstances; admissions officers were present at the consultation desks to address the questions of students and parents.

The on-site lecture introduced application strategies for each admission track for the 2027 academic year. For the Academic Record-Based Track, applicants were advised to base their applications on trends in admission results over the past three years; for the Comprehensive Student Record Track, guidance focused on strategies for the newly established International Talent Track and Algorithm Excellence Track, as well as familiarization with the revised evaluation criteria; and for the Essay-Based Track, advice was provided on targeting departments with relatively low popularity but limited enrollment. In addition, the university presented strategies for applying to departments under the Major Choice Program or utilizing the university’s broad “All Departments” system to select or change one’s major after enrollment.

Kookmin University will admit a total of 1,796 students (excluding spots outside the quota) for the 2027 academic year’s early admission cycle: 643 in the humanities, 811 in the natural sciences, 142 in arts and physical education, and 200 in the Major Choice Program (Liberal Arts and Future Convergence Majors).

Looking at the major admission tracks, the Academic Excellence (Principal’s Recommendation) Track—which evaluates high school transcripts—will admit 164 students in the humanities, 222 in the natural sciences, 200 students in the Liberal Arts and Future Convergence tracks—for a total of 586 students. Under the comprehensive school record-based track, the “Kookmin Frontier” track will admit 311 students in the Humanities, 369 in the Natural Sciences, and 44 in the Arts and Physical Education tracks—for a total of 724 students. For the essay-based track, 63 students will be admitted in the Humanities and 142 in the Natural Sciences, for a total of 205 students.

An official from Kookmin University’s Admissions Office stated, “This information session was organized to help students and parents preparing for the 2027 academic year’s early admissions process accurately understand Kookmin University’s admissions criteria and develop application strategies tailored to their individual circumstances,” adding, “We expect to provide practical college admissions information through updates on admission results, special lectures on strategies for each admissions track, and one-on-one consultations with admissions officers.”
