Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul) will host the “2nd IFIP WG 8.4 International Symposium (EBISION 2026),” an international academic conference in the fields of ICT and e-business information systems, for three days from Wednesday, July 8, to Friday, July 10, at venues including the Academic Conference Hall in the Main Administration Building on the Kookmin University campus in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul.

This conference is the official flagship event of WG 8.4 under the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and serves as a forum for international academic exchange to share the latest research findings and industry trends in the fields of e-business, ICT convergence, information security, and data-driven digital innovation. Professor You Ilsun of the Department of Information Security and Cryptography at Kookmin University (Director of the Global ICT Convergence Security Innovation Research Center) is serving as the General Chair.

EBISION 2026 will bring together researchers and industry representatives from 11 countries, including South Korea, Denmark, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Greece, Spain, Thailand, Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Indonesia. A total of 91 papers will be presented at the conference, comprising 50 oral presentations and 41 poster presentations. With foreign presenters affiliated with overseas institutions accounting for more than 50% of the total, the conference has established itself as a truly global academic event.

Leading researchers in the fields of ICT and security will participate in the keynote speeches and invited sessions. Keynote speakers include Professor Tei-Wei Kuo, who served as Vice President of National Taiwan University and currently serves as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Delta Electronics, a global electronics and ICT company, Professor Nicola Dragoni of the Technical University of Denmark, a leader in cybersecurity research in Northern Europe; and Professor Antonio F. Skarameta of the University of Murcia in Spain, who has led major European Union (EU) security projects.

In the invited session, Manos Varvarigos, Vice Rector of the National Technical University of Athens, will share research findings on next-generation network architectures and high-performance computing (HPC) security. The session will discuss key agenda items for the future digital environment, focusing on AI-driven digital transformation, cyber threat intelligence, data security, and trust-based information sharing.

An industry session will also be held to share technological trends from the field. Eight companies—including KT, a leading South Korean ICT firm that has spearheaded the country’s wired and wireless communications infrastructure; ZenmuTech, a Japanese company specializing in secret sharing technology; SangFor, a Chinese cybersecurity firm; and AI DataBrushing, a Taiwanese security technology company—will participate to present and demonstrate new technologies. In particular, KT is scheduled to present its “Four-Layer Network Security Vision for the AI and Quantum Era,” and discussions on industry-academia collaboration—linking research achievements with industrial applicability—are expected to follow.

Professor You, who serves as the conference chair, stated, “EBISION 2026 is a forum where researchers and industry experts in the fields of e-business information systems and ICT convergence security gather to discuss key issues in the future digital environment.” He added, “I hope this conference will serve as an opportunity to showcase the global ICT convergence security research capabilities of Korea and Kookmin University and to expand our international industry-academia collaboration network.”
