On Friday, June 19, the Graduate School of Asian Olympic Studies at Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul; Dean Rha Changsoon) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Sports Safety Foundation (Chairman Park Jang-soon) at the Kookmin University Main Administration Building to promote development in the fields of international sports and sports safety.

The signing ceremony was attended by key officials, including Na Chang-soon, Dean of the Graduate School of Asian Olympic Studies at Kookmin University, and Park Jang-soon, Chairman of the Sports Safety Foundation. The two institutions agreed to expand educational and research cooperation in the fields of international sports and sports safety and to work together to create a safer sports environment by cultivating specialized talent.

Under the agreement, the two institutions plan to: ▲ expand educational and research cooperation linking international sports and sports safety; ▲ cultivate professionals in sports safety and strengthen their practical capabilities; and ▲ promote joint academic activities to advance domestic and international sports safety policies and on-site safety management ▲sharing sports safety case studies and research materials, and identifying policy issues.

Rha Changsoon, Dean of Kookmin University’s Graduate School of Asian Olympic Studies, stated, “Sports safety is an essential element for sustainable sports development,” adding, “Taking this agreement as an opportunity, we will actively link the expertise and networks of both institutions to cultivate professionals capable of leading the fields of international sports and sports safety, and further expand our educational and research cooperation.”

Park Jang-soon, Chairman of the Sports Safety Foundation, remarked, “It is deeply meaningful to collaborate with Kookmin University’s Asia Olympic Graduate School, a hub for cultivating professionals in the field of international sports,” adding, “We hope that through this collaboration, sports safety will become increasingly recognized as a core value in the international sports sector.”

Meanwhile, based on this agreement, Kookmin University’s Graduate School of Asian Olympic Studies plans to strengthen its expertise in international sports education and research while striving to cultivate practice-oriented professionals capable of responding to future changes in the sports environment through interdisciplinary collaboration with the field of sports safety.
