Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul) held an event titled “A Warm Start to the New Semester” on the morning of Wednesday, March 25, in the lobby on the first floor of the Administration Building to encourage staff members and express gratitude for their hard work.

On that day, President Jeong Seung-ryeol and the executive team distributed approximately 350 “cheer snack sets”—consisting of Olanda snack sets, tea bags, and thank-you cards—to staff members as they arrived for work, expressing their gratitude. This event was organized to boost staff morale at the start of the new semester and to strengthen the bond between the university administration and the staff.

This marks the third consecutive year that Kookmin University has held a staff appreciation event. In the first year, the university hosted the “Morale-Boosting Bread Event,” offering homemade bread and beverages, and in the second year, it held the “Start the New Semester Sweetly” event, featuring walnut candies and almonds. This year, the university prepared care packages containing Oranda snack sets, tea bags, and thank-you cards to distribute to staff members.

These events have garnered high satisfaction and positive responses from staff members year after year. They are recognized as more than just the distribution of snacks; they are seen as an opportunity to spread a culture of encouragement and support among members and foster a positive organizational culture on campus.

In particular, this year’s event—marking the university’s 80th anniversary—was held to express gratitude to the staff who have driven the university’s growth and transformation, and to encourage one another to create positive changes together in the new semester.

President Jeong Seung Ryul stated, “As we mark this meaningful 80th anniversary, I hope we will continue to encourage and support one another in the new semester to create positive changes at Kookmin University together.” He added, “Since the efforts of each and every member are the driving force behind the university’s growth and development, we will continue to foster a culture of warm communication and mutual support.”

Lee Hye-kyung, Chair of the Labor Union, remarked, “Some might think this is just a small event, but the fact that the President came out early on our way to work to make eye contact and hand out gifts is, in itself, a special experience for the staff and a wonderful event that allows us to fully appreciate the feeling of being respected as members of the university.” She added, “I would like to extend my gratitude to all those who worked hard to make this event possible.”
