Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul) has published the teaching-learning guidebook『My Life I've Got It Now!』(HAKJISA) to mark the 50th semester of its flagship career education liberal arts course, Life Design and Career (hereafter Life Design). The book shares the course's accumulated expertise and offers career solutions for the AI era.

First offered in the second semester of 2004, <Inseoljin> marks its 23rd year this semester. Over that time, a total of 27,680 students have taken this course, making it the longest-running and most-enrolled single liberal arts course in the country.
 

True to its catchphrase, “I design and lead my own life,” this course is not a one-way lecture by the professor. Instead, it centers on learner participation and leadership, experience, and interaction, conducted in a discussion and concert format. This educational approach has earned it the reputation among students as “a life compass course” and “a healing course that cares for weary hearts.” Indeed, this class has sparked numerous successful career transitions: some have moved from leading domestic corporations to university professorships, while others have shifted from instrumental performers to instrument makers.

Published to commemorate its 50th semester, the new book 『My Life I've Got It Now!』 features contributions from nine mentor professors, including former Kookmin University professor Lee Eui-Yong (lead author), Oh Jung Keun, Han Gunsu, Woo Sung-sick, Yoon Sung Hae, Lee Hyeon Ki, Han Sang-hoon, Ham Seon-uk, and Hwang Dong-Jo. The book contains the unique teaching methods accumulated over the past 22 years, along with vivid accounts of the experiences of graduates who entered society through the program.
Set against the backdrop of an era where the job world is rapidly changing due to the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), it deeply explores ▲ the core competencies job seekers must possess ▲ new teaching and learning methods for the AI era ▲ the direction university career education should take.
Lead author Lee Eui-Yong, former professor at Kookmin University, stated, “While the advent of the AI era is bringing significant changes to university education and career planning, paradoxically, it is precisely at times like these that the inherent human value of deeply understanding ‘oneself’ becomes even more crucial.” He added, “Only when one deeply understands oneself can one truly design their future. I hope this book serves as one answer for fellow professors and students contemplating life lessons suited for the AI era.”
