Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul) recorded an average competition ratio of 23.84:1 for its 2026 academic year early admissions. This represents a significant increase compared to last year's ratio of 13.06:1.

The early admissions period, which closed at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 12, saw 50,305 applicants vying for 2,110 spots. The most competitive program was the Business Administration Major in the College of Business under the essay-based admissions track, attracting 3,538 applicants for 11 spots, resulting in a ratio of 321.64:1.

The most significant feature of Kookmin University's 2026 early admissions is the revival of the essay-based selection process (29,034 applicants for 226 spots, 128.47:1). Looking at the highest competition ratios by field, in the humanities, besides Business Administration, the Media major recorded a ratio of 298:1 with 596 applicants for 2 openings. In the sciences, the Software Department recorded a ratio of 133.43:1 with 934 applicants for 7 openings.

By admission track, the Academic Excellence Track saw 3,965 applicants for 601 spots (6.60:1), while the Kookmin Frontier Track had 10,475 applicants for 696 spots (15.05:1).

Additionally, departments with high competition rates included the Media major under the Academic Excellence Track, which recorded a 15:1 ratio with 60 applicants for 4 openings. For the Kookmin Frontier Track, the Visual Design Department saw a 47:1 ratio with 564 applicants for 12 openings.
