Sungok Library, Kookmin University, has been awarded the “Excellent Institution Award in the Specialization Category of University Library Evaluation in 2023”.

Sungok Library scored 15.6 points out of 16 points in the evaluation of the characterization indicators of the “University Library Evaluation” held in 2023, ranking first in the characterization category among about 60 universities in Group A, and won the Excellent Institution Award (President's Award of the Korean Institute of Education and Research Information) at the “2024 National University Library Competition” held on August 29, 2024.

The “University Library Evaluation” is the only nationwide evaluation of university libraries in Korea, overseen by the Ministry of Education under the University Library Promotion Act and organized by the Korea Institute of Education and Research Information, which has been implemented since 2020, and evaluates the development foundation and overall library operation of university libraries based on the performance of the last three years. In the 'Specialized Category' of the evaluation, only one university was selected from each of Group A (more than 10,000 students), Group B (5,000 to less than 10,000 students), and Group C (less than 5,000 students) according to the number of students enrolled, and Sungok Library was awarded the sole prize among all Group A universities.

In the overall category evaluation, Seoul National University Central Library and Yonsei University Academic Information Center were selected as the best and second-best institutions, respectively, among four-year Group A universities.
