KMU Signs Agreement With LG Electronics to Establish “Automobile Convergence SW Recruitment Contract Track”

Kookmin University (KMU) President Yim Hong-Jae signed an agreement with LG Electronics to operate the “Automobile Convergence SW Recruitment Contract Track” at KMU’s Administration Hall on the morning of Aug. 9.
 Lim Chong-Rak, executive director of VS headquarters, Cho Surin, head of vehicle components solutions HR management division, Choi Junhee, leader of the talent acquisition and labor cost management team, and Lee Jae-Ho from LG Electronics attended the signing ceremony. Yim Hong-Jae, school president, head of Convergence and Open Sharing System, 
Kim Jong-Chan, professor of the Department of Automotive Engineering, Yoo Jin-Woo, professor of the Department of Automobile and IT Convergence, and Sohn Jang-kyu, team 
leader of the Department of Automotive Convergence University from KMU participated as well.


To conclude the agreement, the two organizations agreed to cooperate in fostering outstanding automotive SW-related personnel by establishing an “LG Electronics Automotive 
Convergence SW Recruitment Contract Track” within KMU’s Automotive Convergence University starting the second semester of 2022.
 According to the agreement, around 10 fourth graders in the Department of Automotive Engineering and Automotive IT Convergence who wish to enter Kookmin University's Graduate School of Automotive Engineering will be selected as track scholarship students once a year and then can apply for a master’s degree. The selected undergraduates will acquire field experience through an internship at LG Electronics during the semester vacation and receive a small sum from their industry-academic scholarship each semester until they finish the graduate school program.
 “It is very meaningful to operate a new recruitment contract track for LG Electronics to foster future automotive talented individuals with Kookmin University,” said Executive Director 
Lim Chong-Rak. “A leading profound university in the automobile industry sector, in the era of the fourth industrial revolution.”
 “Since the establishment of the Department of Automotive Engineering first in the history of Korean universities in 1992, KMU has been responding to the abrupt changes in the trend of technological movements by putting effort into newly establishing the Department of Automotive IT Convergence in 2014 and always has been the epitome of success in specializing the automotive section,” said President Yim. “We are 
delighted to newly operate a mutual recruitment contract track 
with LG Electronics today, and we hope that the two organizations will put effort into the development of Korea’s automobile 
industry together.
