Kookmin University, Selected for Support Project for University Contributing to Normalization of High School Education

Kookmin University was selected for ‘Support Project for University Contributing to Normalization of High School Education’ announced by the Ministry of Education and the Korean Council of University Education. The university will receive 9.6 hundred million Won from the government.
Through the evaluation of written materials and presentations of 133 4-year universities in total, 65 universities were selected.
Focused on main items presented in ‘University Admission Process Simplification and University Entrance System Improvement Plan’, the evaluation was made on as to what kind of efforts the universities exerted in order to improve the admission system and normalize the high school education.
In order to normalize the high school education, our university put best effort to simplify the university admission process and ease the entrance exam burden through elimination of screening of students based on essay test score, elimination and easing of minimum score criteria in the national academic aptitude test, simplification of admission processes, integration of admission process elements based on the student record and elimination of problem-solving type interview based on textbooks. Also, efforts to provide fairness in university admission process, high school-university cooperation and various follow-up guides for the settlement of admitted students were highly evaluated.
Under the vision of ‘Leading in normalizing the high school education through good university admission processes’, our university will strive hard to achieve credibility of high school education, equality in education opportunity, career searching support, self-directedness strengthening and reduction of private education dependence.

 

 

This year’s project will be implemented until February in 2015. Along with admission process plans for year 2016, next year’s project will reflect the admission process operation results for year 2015.
