In Sungkok Library, there is a place where you can watch movies, use computers, and print. It is the Multimedia Information Room, which is located on the first floor and is near the global center. The Multimedia Information Room offers a variety of non-book materials. You can watch DVDs in the DVD Zone; take online lectures, prepare documents, and surf the internet in the PC Zone; and have all kinds of seminars, take audio-visual education, and watch movies in the A/V Room. To use the room, all you need is a student ID card or a K-card application. The Multimedia Information Room is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. So let us take an in-depth look at the Multimedia Information Room.

The DVD Zone

When you enter the Multimedia Information Room, you will first find a computer and some files. If you don’t have any movies in mind, you can search some movies on the computer. There are around 18,000 movies and videos, including DVDs and Blue-ray films. The computer also boasts a new search engine. Starting this semester, the Multimedia Information Room will now offer its search engine to students. You can search a movie by its title or by its director’ s name. In the file section, movies are listed in order of their registration number. There are also two kinds of files for each video type: one is just a file simply named after the movie it contains and the other is a file containing the movie’s poster.

After you decide what to w a t c h , f i l l o u t t h e s m a l l application form. There are blank forms you can fill out to select which media method you want to use. The blanks you need to fill out include the movie’s title, its serial number and your student ID number. When you are done, submit form to an employee. If you don’t have your student ID card and just have K-card application, then you can put your ID card instead.

Afterward, you just choose a seat. There are seats for one person and others for two people. If your group consists of three members, there are unfortunately no places to watch together. As such, you will need to separate your group, or else gather one to two more people to watch the movie in bigger room ― the upstairs section of the library also has a place where groups of four to six people can watch films. There, you can talk and engage in a team project together. The employee will find the movie you requested and give you the remote. If you chose a 3-D movie, 3-D glasses will be provided. Bring your film with you to your allocated area, where you will see a TV, headphones, and a sofa. With all that, you can enjoy your movie. Each movie will have different conditions and almost every movie has both Korean and English subtitles. Some movies also have Chinese subtitles.

After you finish viewing your movie, take everything back to the employee you first spoke to. The employee will return your student ID card . If you have any overdue books, you will be unable to rent any DVDs or Blue-rays.
Sungkok Library also has an application through which you can search and find whether there is a movie that you want to watch. You can easily find it in the list of non-book materials.
The Multimedia Information Room also buys new DVDs and Blue-rays four times in a year. Students can request movies they want to watch. To request new videos, you have to visit the Multimedia Information Room and ask an employee directly.

The Multimedia Information Room in Sungkok Library is good for resting in your spare time. It is also a good place to hone one of the best hobbies ― watching movies. If you have any film-related assignments, you can also do them there. You can live debate the movie with your friends while watching it. If you are a foreign student, watching Korean movies will also help you study Korean. There are Korean subtitles in every single movie. As such, it will improve your reading, speaking, and comprehension in Korean. Sungkok Library always welcomes you. The new semester is a good time to pick up a new hobby.
