About one month has passed since the new spring semester began. For most Kookminians, this month could be exciting, but generally it feels familiar. However, for freshmen who have just entered the university after long years of studying for college entrance, this month would have been a totally new experience. Unlike middle school and high school, university students have freedom of choosing lectures and setting their own timetables. Also, they can enjoy a wide range of activities during free periods. The Kookmin Review met two vibrant freshmen to find out how their campus life is going and listen to their stories. The Review sends cheers to all freshmen for their new university days and hopes they achieve their new goals.

Q: You might have been very busy during the whole month of March. How do like your university life?
 Now I have free periods between classes, so I can do various activities that I wanted to, and I have meals at school cafeteria. I am really satisfied with them. Though I am quite busy with meeting new friends at different departments and participating in programs such as ‘Freshmen Festival,’ I believe they are all worthwhile and interesting.
 The other day, I went to a drinking party held by my department’s society, ‘Culture’, and went to play billiards together. I really feel like we are a family. I also joined a club named CCC, too. I really like my club, because I feel warm and welcomed when I go to the club room. Lastly, I am genuinely happy to attend my school since KMU’s campus is really beautiful.

Q: What is the biggest difference or interesting things for you compared to when you were a high school student?

 Although I have been a university student for only 3 weeks, I have too many assignments to do, so it is literally quite demanding to finish them. New formats and new topics to do research. All of them are all unfamiliar to us as we have just entered the school. For me, free periods are my best time of the day although it still feels awkward to have free periods.
 First of all, I am very glad that I do not have to wake up early to go to school, and I like the freedom that I can go to the club room or department’s room whenever I have free time.

Q: What are the things you really want do before your graduation?
 I am eager to work as a University Ambassador before I graduate from the school. I would like to introduce my school proudly to others, and I believe I can learn many things by interacting with students at different universities.
 I wish to be a member of University Ambassador or KMU Dream Mentor (students who work for the admissions office). Also I want to get excellent scores on my languaged tests such as  Japanese·Chinese·English qualification tests.

Q: Do you have any other ideas or questions about campus life?
 Sometimes cafeteria serves bland foods  However, it doesn’t matter. I can go to the front gate of the school, so called ‘underground world’ (the village located under the highway in front of the university). For me, ‘Hyunjoone’ is the best.
 School cafeterias are absolutely great! Despite the low price, the meals are so much nicer than the school lunch that I used to have. In addition, I am trying to figure out how I can get good grades while enjoying social life at the same time.
