My Experiences in Bali
- 12.04.05 / 이영선
I have been to numerous places in the world: Bali, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the United States, and Japan. However, Bali was my favorite city of all. Although I visited Bali only for a short period of time with my family, and it has been a while since I have been there, Bali was my most memorable trip. I have three beautiful memories there: skin scuba, paragliding, and a campfire.
To begin with, it was the first time for me to see under the surface of the ocean with my own eyes. Obviously, I have seen under the sea on television shows like National Geography before, but it was the first time to actually see fish and marine landscape in real life. I have never been so close to any ocean creature before, so I brought some bread and broke it into pieces to feed the fish. I had never been under the water for that long, and I really loved the feeling of being underwater. My whole body felt the cool water and I felt like I was flying because I was floating in the water. Also, the atmosphere was very peaceful because I could not hear anything but the still sound of the world under the sea.
On the second day of the trip, I was hanging out at the beach, laying down and enjoying the summer, while it was still winter in Korea. The bright sun was shining on me, and I was getting a tan, and I felt so warm and serene. I closed my eyes and listened to the sound of the waves which refreshed my mind, relaxed my body and made me feel very calm. After I enjoyed the peaceful afternoon, I went to paraglide over the middle of the ocean. Feeling so close to the sky, I enjoyed my first paragliding experience; I felt like I was flying when I was paragliding because my feet were above the ground and in the sky, and from there, I could see the whole beach. I could hear nothing but a very light wind blowing nicely.
On the last night of my trip to Bali, my family went out to have dinner at a great restaurant where the tables were on the sand, in the middle of the beach. As I took off my flip flops and felt the sand under my feet, I could feel the smooth sand between my toes while the fresh lobster was being cooked next to the table where I was sitting. I enjoyed my last night in Bali: I paid attention to the sound of the waves and the sound of the campfire’s wood burning which created such a romantic and peaceful atmosphere. The smell of summer made me feel very tranquil and as I was taking pleasure in the beautiful evening, the lobster finished being cooked. I ate the lobster that had just been caught, cooked, and served and I also had a piece of a yellow watermelon. It was the first time for me to eat both lobster and a yellow watermelon, and they were more delicious than anything else I tasted in Bali. From that moment, those two foods became my favorite food and my favorite fruit.
Even though time has passed, I still remember the sound of the beach in Bali, the heavenly taste of the lobster, and the feeling of being in the sky. I assure you that Bali is an amazing city that has a lot to offer: it has wonderful scenery, flavorful food, and kind people. I have visited other places since Bali, but they were not as fantastic. I would recommend Bali as the best city to enjoy exotic experiences and to have a memorable time with your family or friends.
