Our students (Song Moo Hyun , Kim Kyu Min ,Kim Yu Rim, and Hwang Jae Il, a computer science major from the General Graduate School) won second place at the AWS Summit Seoul 2024 Cloud Technology Competition (AWS GameDay), the largest cloud computing event in Korea, held at the COEX Convention Center from May 16th (Thursday) to 17th (Friday).

AWS GameDay is a competitive event where teams define various problem scenarios that can occur in real cloud environments, build them in the same environment as real service development environments, and earn points by solving the given mission. This year's AWS GameDay was held with a total of 33 teams and 106 players, and was organized around the theme of generative AI, with the task of building an optimal generative AI environment in the cloud and solving the problems that arose.

In Round 2, where our students won second place, 18 teams participated, and the first place was won by a team of developers from financial institutions such as Shinhan Bank and Kakao Bank, and the third place was won by a team of developers from Samsung Electronics.

The winning students said, "We are happy to receive the second place in a big event with many professionals, and we were able to achieve good results because we have been conducting cloud research in our current labs and have built several services using real cloud services, and the team was composed of people who have been working together continuously."

Meanwhile, the Distributed Data Processing System Lab, to which the participating students belong, is supported by SW Star Lab (Cloud) and is conducting research on building an optimal AI service development environment in the cloud computing environment.
