Professor Lee Hyun Jung, a professor of electrochemical materials at the Department of New Materials Engineering, won the 'Toray Mid-Career Academic Award' at the Korean Polymer Society's Spring General Meeting and Conference held at the Jeju International Convention Center from April 3 to 4.

Professor Lee Hyun Jung has been conducting applied research related to energy devices, optoelectronic devices, and semiconductor devices based on the design and synthesis of organic and inorganic composite materials. In particular, he has induced new functions that cannot be obtained from existing materials through structural design and surface modification of new organic and inorganic composite materials and nanomaterials, and has achieved outstanding research results in the field of research on identifying mechanisms and improving the efficiency of energy devices and optoelectronic devices.  

He has also been active in national science and technology advisory activities as an expert on materials in Korea, including the Committee on Science and Technology Innovation of the 4th Industrial Revolution Committee and the Special Committee on Innovation Growth Engine of the National Science and Technology Advisory Council of the Ministry of Science and ICT. 

Professor Lee Hyun Jung received her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in chemistry from POSTECH, and has been teaching at Kookmin University's Department of New Materials Engineering since 2010.

The Toray Mid-Career Academic Award, established in 2023, recognizes researchers who have made outstanding achievements in polymer science and technology by evaluating papers published in the last five years. The winner will receive a certificate and a cash prize of 5 million won.
