Inaugurated as President of the Korean Dance Society / Professor Kang Kyung Mo (Dancing Major)

Professor Kang Kyung Mo, a dance major at Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung-Ryul), Faculty of Performing Arts, has been inaugurated as the 19th president of the Korean Dance Society.
The Korea Dance Society was founded in 1974 by the late Kim Gim-heung, a master of courtly dance, and is the first dance society in Korea, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The society conducts various activities to promote the academic value and social importance of dance, and contributes to expanding the horizons of dance studies by publishing journals listed by the National Research Foundation of Korea, holding national and international conferences, and organizing various academic performances.
Professor Kang Kyung-mo of Kookmin University, who was appointed as the 19th president, has served as the choreographer of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics, vice president of the Korean Contemporary Dance Association, vice president of the World Dance Federation Korea, and vice president of the Korean Dance Society, and is recognized for leading changes and innovations in dance art and education by fostering talented dance artists that society needs.
"I am confident that the 50-year history and authority of the Korean Dance Society will serve as a model and indicator for dance studies," said Kang at her inauguration, "and I will sincerely strive to develop the society and realize its values during my term." Kang will serve a three-year term from March 27, 2024, to March 26, 2027.
