The '2nd Seoul Arts Award' ceremony, hosted by the Seoul Arts Council, was held at the National Theater of Korea's Sky Theater in Jung-gu on the 28th. A total of 16 award nominees, art world elders, and previous year's winners gathered in one place to congratulate each other and add meaning to the ceremony.
Established in 2023, the Seoul Arts Awards is an award program in the field of fine arts that selects the best works from the Seoul Arts Foundation's art support projects. This year, a total of 12 teams, four special prize categories, and one artist with a disability were awarded a total prize of 180 million won.
"Ver.3.Blazing Life" was choreographed by Jang Hye-rim, who used the movements of the traditional dance "Seungmu" as a motif to express the sublime beauty she found in the lives of laborers. It was selected as the grand prize winner among one team from each of the six genres and received KRW 20 million in prize money.
Choreographer Jang Hye-rim said, "I have come to this point in my life with pride, having made Korean dance my calling. "Through dance, I have learned so many life values, such as how to breathe, how to ground and center myself, and how to get back up when I fall," said Jang Hye-rim. "The spirit of 99 Art Company is a dance that resonates with the soul. We will create dances that touch people's hearts, believing that the soul is there, even though it is not visible," said Jang Hye-rim.
