According to the Ministry of Justice, our university students, Junghyo Kwon (Department of Private Law, Class of 1999), Insung Jang (Department of Public Law, Class of 2001), and Hayoung Kim (Department of Public Law, Class of 2001), put their names on the list of people who passed the 53rd Judicial Examination in 2011. There is no question that these three students struggled hard to pass the judicial exam.
A great deal of effort has been made by the College of Law to increase the number of students who pass the exam. Various internal and external scholarships are available for law students, and a system is also provided for students studying for the Bar Examination offering video lectures, prep tests, special deals on prep academies, and special lectures. Currently, a total of 61 students belong to an institute, and 20 of them are preparing for the Bar Exam.
Prof. Seungwoo Chae, the supervisor and mentor of the judicial exam, said: “The Bar Examination will be abolished in the year 2017. That’s why the pass rate has been decreasing every year.” He continued to talk, “It is inspiring to know that out of 800 people who passed the exam this year, four students are from our university, compared to three out of 706 people last year.”
Junghyo Kwon, one of the students who passed the exam, expressed her gratitude saying: “I am thankful to my professors, and the university for all the great support they’ve provided. And I want to give thanks to my family for remaining silent while I was working hard to go through this tough battle with myself.”
