- 09.05.29 / 이민아
Leading a delegation from Kookmin University, President Lee hammered out agreements with leading Vietnamese Universities for academic cooperation during a recent visit to Ho Chi Minh from May 19th to the 22nd. The delegation, including Duckjoon Chang, the Dean of International and Public Relations, and Hong Jae Im, the Director of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, visited Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh University of Science, and Ho Chi Minh University of Technical Education. Kookmin University targeted these top universities as part of its strategy to internationalize the quality of its educational and research environments under its slogan Higher and Broader.
In Agreement of Cooperation (AOC), these top Vietnamese schools agreed to pursue joint research opportunities and student exchange. The delegation presented the profiles of 40 KMU professors who have their eyes set on bringing excellent Vietnamese graduate students and post-docs to Kookmin for research and study. The profiles allow Vietnamese students to easily contact KMU professors according to their academic and research interests. To further facilitate communications, the delegation presented its plan to implement its satellite, internet Realtime Two-way Education System (RTES) at these universities. RTES will allow prospective students and post-docs to have visual interviews with KMU professors for admission or openings. Vietnamese administrators were treated to a working demonstration of RTES, which they found "very impressive."
With ties deepening between South Korea and Vietnam, President Lee believes it is important that universities from both countries extend their relationships. His delegation's visit to Vietnam is a very important step in this regard. Keep posted for coming news on the development of these relations.
