Our school achieved 21 levels higher in the 2011 Korean JoongAng Daily 2 year evaluation results.
In this evaluation, Kookmin University has been evaluated as the school which has the biggest change over the past 3 years. After President Sung Woo Lee took office in 2008, our ranking raised every year for 3 years: 52nd in 2009, 37th in2010, 31st in 2011.
We released ‘KMU1010’ which is a new development plan to be a global college in the world by becoming the 10th famous school within 10 years. From the results of the 2011 Korean JoongAng Daily, we believe we can reach this goal by seeing all the members’ efforts in ‘KMU1010’ from 2009 through the first part of this year.
President Sung Woo Lee found a solution for the improvement of study and the recruitment of professors by getting international students. It’s a strategy to choose 86 excellent professors for improving study by using student’s money. This strategy has our university ranked 31st, ranked 20th in a professor’s study, and ranked 23rd in internationalization in the 2011 JoongAng Daily evaluation.
Our school ranked 20th in a professor's study
Kookmin
University is ranked 20th in a professor's study in this evaluation and recorded
10th in intellectual property rights, 12th in SSCI, A&HCI publications. We
strived to improve the professor's study with KMU1010, and therefore increased
SCI's theses from 72.3 (in 2008) to 99.4 (in 2010).
Our school is ranked 23th in internationalization.
We’ve
been working extensively on exchange agreements with foreign schools to promote
internationalization and secure globalization. As a result, agreements have
increased from 127 schools from 25 countries in 2008 to 202 schools from 32
countries in 2011. Also because of these educational programs, foreign students
have increased from 381 students in 2008 to 1,332 students in 2011, and students
who go abroad have increased from 163 students in 2008 to 260 students in
2012.
Department of Economics 'The Best', Department of English
Language & Literature/Department of Foods & Nutrition 'slightly above
average'
The Department of Economics in our school is ranked 3rd
as “the best”, the Department of English Literature 24th, and Food and Nutrition
in our school is ranked 18th.
The Department of Economics has been ranked
as “the best.” We received a high level including SCL because of our
international record and a higher score because our graduate students work in
various places. In the case of English Literature, it is first ranking for
international theses. They were given a strong advantage in the professor's
study. In the case of Food and Nutrition, we got a high score in many parts of
the evaluation.
