<2011 College Rankings by the JoongAng Ilbo>

The College of Economics (No.3 out of 81 universities) at Kookmin made 'the best', and  Both the Department of English Language & Literature (ranked 24th out of 76 universities) and the Department of Food & Nutrition (ranked 18th out of 57 universities) are graded 'above average' according to the 2011 College Rankings by the JoongAng Ilbo, which were released on September 8th.

The annual JoongAng Ilbo rankings on local universities began in 1994. This year, the JoongAng Ilbo's evaluation team gathered data, such as the ratio of full-time teachers, the number of domestic and foreign theses, scholarships, and the employment rate, on the 123 universities, 9 Humanities & Social departments (Kookmin has 5 applicable departments), and 8 Engineering departments (Kookmin has 3 applicable departments).
At this evaluation, our College of Economics ranked third by having the most number of research papers published in international journals including the Science Citation Index (SCI). The College of Economics & Commerce also made the top 10 back in 2001.

Many graduates of the Department of Economics go on to become successful experts in various fields, including the manufacturing industry (23%), public administration organizations (21%), the publishing business (14%), the lodging industry (10%), and financial institutions (11%). Kim Joong-Kon, CEO of Yuhan-Kimberly, is an alumnus (the class of 1979) of the College of Economics at Kookmin.

And, our department of English Language & Literature, ranked above average, showed its strength through faculty research achievements. Out of 76 universities, the faculty at Kookmin grabbed the No. 1 spot for the most number of international journals and published books, and the No. 3 for the SCI papers.

The Department of Food & Nutrition was graded highly in many various fields, such as the number of full-time equivalent teachers per student, the employment rate of graduates, and the number of scholarships per student.
