Kookmin University (President Jung Seung-ryul) LINC 3.0 Business Group announced that it successfully held the '2024 Capstone Design Competition Awards Ceremony' on the 14th.

Capstone Design is a program that fosters convergence and integration talents who design, plan, and produce tasks based on the major knowledge they learned in their first and second years, and on the topics required by industries and local communities. The Kookmin University LINC 3.0 Project Team supports the completion of tasks each semester by dividing them into majors, companies, global, and local categories so that students can cultivate creativity, practical skills, and teamwork based on comprehensive problem solving in the program.

The Kookmin University LINC 3.0 Project Team held this competition to spread the results of the capstone design project performance in the second semester of the 2024 academic year, and 40 teams from various majors, including engineering, natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, and arts and sports, had the opportunity to show off their skills.

The prize went to Team 1 (Variable Wheels) (In-young Heo, Min-woo Park, Jung-woo Park, Tae-hwan Oh, Hyeon-kyun Jang, and advisor Professor Cho Baek-Kyu), which presented a wheelchair that overcomes cross-slope using variable wheels. The '1-jo (variable wheels)' team focused on the existing problems of wheelchairs when crossing slopes and created a wheelchair that can be driven safely with variable wheels. The project was highly evaluated for its detailed description of the item design process, production process, and process for improving problems that occurred during production, as well as for its high potential for commercialization.

The teams 'HPLK' (Seungho Lee, Hyunseok Kim, Sungil Park, Junsik Hwang, and their advisor Professor Yim, Sanggyu) and 'ORANJOA' (Haeju Shin, Jangwoo Chae, Jungyeon Choi, Hanhim Jung, and their advisor Professor Jinsol Lee) won the Grand Prize. The HPLK team conducted experiments on the development of an early cancer detection method using X-ray attenuation nanoparticles and achieved significant results, and will continue to conduct follow-up research. The 'ORANJOA' team devised a plan to increase traffic safety by developing an autonomous driving planning system using the 5G network installed on campus.
