Convergence presentation at the 'Festival of Communication and Harmony'

The 1st Seoul Center for Creative Arts Education, hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Jo Hee Yeon) and commissioned by Kookmin University (President Jung Seung Ryul), announced that it will run the Summer Creative Arts Classroom, a community-connected vacation program, and hold a convergence presentation on August 9 through <Festival of Communication and Harmony>

The 'Vacation Creative Arts Class' is a representative regional collaboration program of the 1st Seoul Creative Arts Education Center, and is eagerly awaited by parents and students, as applications are closed as soon as they start. The 2024 Summer Creative Arts Class, which will be run by 14 working artists, will feature 14 different programs, including two performances, two exhibitions, and one performance video.

The center will hold a two-week interdisciplinary performance and exhibition program from July 29 to August 9, and will hold an interdisciplinary presentation on August 9 through the 15th <Festival of Communication and Harmony>. In particular, the convergence presentation on August 9, “Festival of Communication and Harmony,” also known as <So, Hwa, Je>, will be held as an exhibition (12:00~18:00), performance part 1 (15:00~15:40), and performance part 2 (16:00~17:00), and will be broadcast live on the center's YouTube channel so that anyone can watch the performance.

The performance and video viewing will be held in two parts at the Sky Theater on the 5th floor of the center, with the first part featuring a performance of <Looking for the Stars, That Day> a creative drama that combines theater, sand art, and K-POP classes. The second part will begin with a video and performance of <Summer's Dream> a program that combines b-boy dance and filmmaking, followed by the jukebox time warp musical <Vocal Up and Bounce (2000),> which combines musical theater, songwriting, and nanta classes.

An exhibition of student works will be held in the center's first-floor Gallery WE exhibition room. The exhibition will include the <Breathing Art Dive> exhibition, which combines crafts, sculpture, sculpture, painting, and AR classes to create an underwater scenery, and the <Anime Arcade>, an animation class, will be held in an arcade concept space where visitors can play games with characters created by students and win prizes. In addition, exhibition-related events such as <Treasure Hunt Under the Sea!> will be held to actively engage visitors on the day.

Meanwhile, the 1st Seoul Creative Arts Education Center, which opened in 2014, has been commissioned and operated by Kookmin University since 2019. The center develops interdisciplinary art education programs that are difficult to experience in schools with 14 working artists, and provides students with a variety of learning opportunities through school, regional linkages, and special programs. Approximately 20,000 Seoul students participate in classes at the 1st Seoul Creative Arts Education Center every year, and the center provides all of the classroom space and materials optimized for arts education free of charge. In addition to students, the center holds monthly training programs for teachers in the Seoul Metropolitan Government and monthly cultural water concerts for local residents.
