Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung ryul) College of  Automobile and IT Convergence invited Hong Seong Gyun, former General Manager of GM Korea, to give a special lecture on "Technological Advancement and Future of Automobiles in the 4th Industrial Revolution."

As part of the Brain Korea 21 (BK21) project, Kookmin University's  Automobile and IT Convergence <Automotive Fusion Seminar> invites automotive experts to give lectures every week. 

"The era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is an era of creating a new platform by converging all fields, such as abandoning common sense and utilizing big data," said Hong Seong Gyun, former executive director.

He also compared electric vehicles and hydrogen vehicles, saying, "In addition to the advantages of electric vehicles that do not emit pollutants, hydrogen vehicles are characterized by short charging time and long driving range with the ability to purify fine dust." He predicted that fuel cells (hydrogen fuel cells) will be the core of future vehicles. "As we have entered a hyper-connected society with the combination of various technologies such as IoT, AI, and VR, we need convergent research," he concluded.

In addition to Hong, Global Master Ahn Chang Nam of Hyundai Motor Company, patent attorney Lee Myung Woo of Samsung Electronics, and Lee Seung Hwan of the Korea Automotive Research Institute will be among the speakers this semester. 

Mr. Hong is an automotive expert who graduated from the Department of Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering at Seoul National University and served as Vice President of Daeji Automotive after working in development at Daewoo Motor, GM Korea, and GM China. In 2013, he was awarded an industrial citation for his contributions to the development of the automotive industry.
