Kookmin University became the overall champion in the International Micro Robot Maze Contest 2010 The students from the Graduate School of Automotive Engineering and School of Mechanical & Automotive Engineering participated in the International Micro Robot Maze Contest 2010 that was held on Nov. 7th at the Noyori Conference Hall of Nagoya University, Japan and won the 4th overall championship for three consecutive years, spreading the excellence of Kookmin University to the world.
International Micro Robot Maze Contest is a prestigious world contest hosted by Nagoya University, Japan and it has been promoted for 16 years since 1992. In the event, the participants showcased their technical expertise in 6 categories and an international symposium on MHS (Micro Mechatronics & Human Science was jointly held as well. The purpose of this event was to increase the interest and innovativeness of the young engineers on micro-machines and micro-mechatronics while sharing the ideas on science technology and encouraging the cooperation based on the active participation of various countries.
The students of Kookmin University became the overall champion in the contest by winning the 1st and 2nd prizes in 'Category 2a and Category 2b that decided the rank based on the run-time of a 1-inch wide robot to pass the 7 designated points' while securing the 3rd rank in 'Category 3b that featured the performance of a robot, which was able to walk perfectly with 2 legs having a free theme' in addition to winning in 2 other categories.
This outstanding achievement is even more significant as the expertise of Kookmin University specialized in micro-robot became known in the world stage by securing the overall championship for 3 consecutive years after winning in 2009 since its first participation in 2003.
