‘The Creative Talent Competition for Creative Health Care’ was successfully held in participation of related professors and undergraduate students in the Science Hall of Kookmin University on November 28th (Fri.). This event was supervised by the Convergence Talent Cultivation Cluster for Creative Health Care (CHC) aiming to cultivate customized creative talent specialized in the silver industry.
Students from the Department of Bio Fermentation Convergence Technology and Food and Nutrition organized a team and presented creative ideas that could be introduced to the health care industry, along with detailed plans, values of idea products, and possibility of deriving success in the market.
This event served as an opportunity to learn about various perspectives on dynamic information and ideas that were not accessed in lectures. It was also the venue of communication as the participating teams were organized with students from freshmen to seniors.
Through 3 hours of heated competition, the BioBlack Team of the Department of Bio Fermentation Convergence Technology (3 students besides team manager Hui-jin Jo – class of 2011) won the Grand Prize with the theme of ‘Productivity promotion of black-soybean Chungkookjang’ and the Misaeng Team of the Department of Food and Nutrition (2 students besides team manager Jin-hui Kim – class of 2011) won the Gold Prize with the theme of ‘Smart sensor tag for healthy dietary life of the elderly.’

The BioBlack Team of the Department of Bio Fermentation Convergence Technology that won the Grand Prize in this competition suggested ways to improve productivity of black-soybean by using Korean enzyme and having a goal as ‘productivity promotion of black-soybean Chungkookjang,’ it aimed to overcome dependence on the overseas bio-industry. As this team was considered to provide the foundation for industrialization by directly promoting related experiment, there is high possibility of actualizing the plan and idea patent.
In addition, the Misaeng Team of the Department of Food and Nutrition that won the Gold Prize aimed at the prevention of food poisoning among the elderly in use of a sensor tag that indicates food characteristics and period of intake on the LED display of a refrigerator. Such ICT technology is an item that is highly demanded in the society; thus, there is high chance of being introduced in the market and become patented through the development of food characteristics using IT technology.
m – class of 2011) won the Gold Prize with the theme of ‘Smart sensor tag for healthy dietary life of the elderly.’
