Graduate School of Metalwork and Jewelry Team Receives Awards at Taiwan International Metal Crafts Competition 2015

A team from the Graduate School of Metalwork and Jewelry at Kookmin University participated in the Taiwan International Metal Crafts Competition 2015.A total of five students, including the Silver Prize winner Yo-jae Yi (Class of 2011, Graduate School of Metalwork and Jewelry), received the Silver Prize.
The Taiwan International Metal Crafts Competition, sponsored by the New Taipei City for Taiwan Gold Museum, was launched in 2007 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Gold Museum. It was also conceptualized to promote Taiwanese metal crafts in the global market. For the event this year, the competition was expanded by classifying crafts into local or international category.
In this competition that promotes the field of jewelry and metalcrafts, 330 artists from 40 countries participated. Outstanding artworks of 28 artists were selected for Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards, Quality Prize, Merit Prize, and Encouragement Award.
In the field of jewelry, Yo-jae Yi (Class of 2011, Graduate School of Metalwork and Jewelry) was awarded with the Silver Prize and 3,000 USD as cash prize. In the same field, Kookmin University graduate Hui-ang Kim (Class of 2012, Graduate School of Metalwork and Jewelry) was awarded with the Quality Prize while Jong-seok Im (Class of 2013, Graduate School of Metalwork and Jewelry) received the Merit Award. In the field of metalcrafts, Sang-deok Han (Class of 1999, Graduate School of Metalwork and Jewelry) received the Merit Award.
The artworks of the Top 3 winners from each category will be exhibited in Taiwan at the ‘Gold Museum Exhibition’ (June 23 ~ August 23, 2015) and ‘Creative Tainan’ event in November 2015. As part of the cultural exchange between Taiwan and America, the artworks will be exhibited at the ‘National Ornamental Metal Museum’ located in Tennessee, U.S.A. from December 2015 until March 2016.
