Graduate school of the Department of Metalwork & Jewelry, participated in the Marzee Graduate Show in Netherlands

Marzee Graduate Show 2014 was held in Gallery Marzee at Nijmegen, Netherlands in participation of Ye-ji Yi (grad in ‘10), Ji-ye Yun (grad in ‘12), and Min-ji Jo (grad in ‘12) from the Graduate School of Metalwork & Jewelry in Kookmin University. This exhibition attracted the attention of enthusiasts and students majored in crafts and jewelries from European countries.
Since its establishment in 1978, the Gallery Marzee has exhibited dynamic artworks with artistic quality while taking critical role in the field of contemporary jewelry industry in the world. After moving to its current location in 1995, Marzee has been known as the largest gallery in Netherlands as well as the largest gallery of contemporary jewelry in the world.
Especially, Marzee exerts efforts to support the start of new artists and from that perspective, the Marzee Graduate Show is considered to be one of the important exhibitions of the gallery. For the past 25 years, the Graduate Show has been held every year. Initially, it was held only for the students who graduated from related schools in Netherlands but later on, it expanded its scope to Belgium and Germany. Since the gallery’s moving in 1995, the targets were broadened to jewelry-majored students from all over the world including the U.S., Australia, and Asian countries to exhibit refreshing artworks of new artists. The Graduate School of the Department of Metalwork & Jewelry of Kookmin University was invited from 2006 and since then, 3 ~ 5 people have been participating in the Marzee Graduate Show every year.
During the exhibition, a special session shared with visitors is available for the artists to talk about their artworks and answer the visitors’ questions, bringing more delight to the visitors of the exhibition. Started from August 17th, the Graduate Show continued until October 19th.
